I currently do grant writing, prospect research and database management at a Chicago-based, international human services organization. With five years of experience in fundraising, I have helped raise over $1 million dollars for several social service organizations in Chicago. My particular skill sets include fundraising plans, prospect research, proposal writing, and grants management. I would like to contribute my skills to helping grassroots organizations establish sustainable fundraising plans that are embedded with your values and help you achieve your mission. Please contact me at Tasasha.Henderson@gmail.com if you are interested in how I may be able to work with your organization.
My passion is in organizing around issues of violence against women, reproductive justice, and the prison industrial complex. I am a co-organizer with Love & Protect (formerly the Chicago Alliance to Free Marissa Alexander), a grassroots collective of people committed to supporting women, trans and gender non-conforming people of color who have been harmed by violence. I am also a board member of Project Fierce Chicago, an organization that is seeking to provide safe and affirming transitional housing to LGBTQ young people who are experiencing homelessness.
I am also an emerging freelance writer who has been published in Truthout, Salon, The Feminist Wire, Ravishly, Coming of Faith, Bitch Media, and For Harriet. I will also begin writing on Medium soon, so be on the look out for articles published there. A combination of lived experience, organizing and education have inspired me to add my unique voice and perspective to public conversations concerning the above issues, in hopes of contributing something new and inspiring people to action.
